About
St. Francis de Sales Senior Secondary School, Janakpuri, New Delhi, was established on 10 April 1978 by the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales (MSFS) under the leadership of its founder, Rev. Fr. Thomas Thoomkuzhy, MSFS. The foundation stone of the school building had been laid earlier, on 9 July 1977, by Shri Sikandar Bhakt, the then Union Minister for Works and Housing, and was blessed by Rt. Rev. Dr. Luciano Storero, the then Apostolic Nuncio to India.
The school began its first academic year with just 117 students, with classes initially conducted in temporary tents. From these humble beginnings, the institution grew steadily. The High School section was introduced in 1982–83, and the first batch of 61 students appeared for the Class X Board Examination in 1983–84. In the same year, the school was upgraded to the Senior Secondary level.
Over the years, St. Francis de Sales School has developed into a well-established co-educational, English-medium institution affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Guided by its motto, “Knowledge, Service, Charity,” the school has remained committed to academic excellence, character formation, social responsibility and the holistic development of its students.
From its modest beginning in 1978, SFS Janakpuri has built a rich legacy of education and service, continuing the Fransalian vision of nurturing young people into knowledgeable, compassionate and responsible citizens.
